What was the most compelling movie you've ever seen? Some have said Schindler's List. Others have been gripped by The Passion of the Christ. Through the power of story and images, movies invite us to experience the gamut of human emotions – we experience love, fear, joy, pain, hope. Movies are meant to move us, to touch a part of us that is somehow unseen.
It is this deeper unseen part of us that makes us human. How well do you take care of your spirit – the very core of who you are as a person, your character, your uniqueness, your soul, the part of yourself that resides at the very core of your being that is meant to connect with God?
How well do you know your spiritual self? Have you taken time to explore and define your spiritual perspective? Your spiritual perspective informs how you view all of life – it influences how you encounter life, death, hope, disappointment, love, tragedy, evil, existence, purpose... all the big issues and hard questions.
Exploring your spiritual self takes courage and intentionality in asking the big questions and evaluating yourself. It takes courage and honesty to face ourselves. It can be a risk to search out the unseen.
Maybe you’re already thinking about spiritual things because of your introspective nature. Maybe life circumstances have caused you to question, but you wish you could find some clarity. Maybe you’ve never thought about it before and don’t know where to begin.
Have you considered Jesus in your spiritual search? He is described by the writer John as Light and Life. “Everything was created through him, nothing – not one thing! – came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness, the darkness couldn’t put it out.” (John 1, The Message)
Could it be that Jesus can shed light to your steps as you walk through life and explore your spiritual path?
