Immediate gratification must be satisfied. The modern age of efficiency dictates that everything must be done as fast as possible as inexpensively as possible.
Capitalist mentality can even influence the realm of dating, as time is valuable and the world is full of beautiful people to date. So when one detects a current date is no longer dating material, they are inclined to pass their date over for a worthier dating partner.
Furthermore, what can develop in the face of modern dating is the concept of the 'date trick.' The 'date trick' will give immediate insight into the date's character. The results of each trick helps to bring the character of the date into focus.
In essence, the date trick sets up a situation or scenario that challenges the date to respond in a characteristic manner. Their response to the trick can yield clues into the date's character. Sometimes these tricks are intentional, and sometimes they are not.
Classic Car Door Test
The most classic of all dating tricks is the car-door test. If the guy unlocks his date's door for her using a key, then walks around to the driver's side door, he can see if she has reached across and unlocked his door for him. He does not ask for her to do so, he sees whether or not she is considerate enough to not only observe his gentlemanly act, but sees if she is considerate enough to unlock his door for him. If she does not pass this test, then she fails the most simple, but most effective date trick.
Fetching the Date Test
Girls can be more tricky in their tricks, as they may not proactivley set up a situation for a guy to pass or fail, but will instead watch absolutely everything the guy does under a microscope.
For example, when being picked up for a date, girls will observe whether or not a guy will get out of their car and knock at their front door, or see if the guy will pull into the driveway of her house and honk repeatedly until she comes out. If the guy chooses to honk, he has most certainly failed.
The Sound of Silence
An excellent 'date trick' for both guys and girls to try is the bookstore/coffeshop trick, which is also suitable for any age.
Not only will the character of the date be revealed in their choice of magazines (do they pick all of one kind? Do they promote some kind of unhealthy lifestyle?) but what else will be revealed in the date is how the other person deals with silence. If the date cannot handle silence and has to keep talking the entire time, this would be a bad thing. However, to completely ignore the other person the entire time is equally as bad.
Disclaimer
To maintain the innocence of the 'date trick' is important because if the person doing the trick is dishonest, and is caught then their immediate worth will decline immensely. For example, if the trick is along the lines of 'pretending' that the car ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere, just to see how the date would react is bad. If they react poorly then the date has gone bad. If they react well, but then you tell them how you just lied to them, then that is bad too.
Final Words
What the opposite sex wants, and what they are thinking, will never be truly understood until all of history comes to an end (and maybe not even then!). What can be figured out is what kind of values are important to them and identify those values more quickly. If those values are not apparent fairly immediately, then one might draw the conclusion that the date probably does not embody them.
Nobody wants to spend anymore time than they have to with someone who may eventually break their heart. So with that warning, it is recomended that all dating be done carefully, wisely and lovingly.
And don't honk the horn.
