my major | advice for students | university life | my spirituality
Choosing my area of study:
>I decided on majoring in Systems Engineering during the end of my second year of university. I wanted to do something that had a tangible component, and the other types of engineering at my university weren't the right match.
>As an Engineering student, it's easy to find a co-op job. On the down side, it's an intense program, with lots of work. You could work on a project for 20 hours and have nothing to show for it if it doesn't work.
>A student who would do well in Engineering would be someone who has patience, discipline, creativity, and interpersonal skills, especially when you network and help each other.

My Life in university:
>In university I find that I have lots to learn. I'm discovering that I like working with people, and that I'm good at communicating (my wife is very patient when I say this).
I also started learning some good life lessons, things like needing to plan your week and needing to try different things and grow as a person.
>The hardest thing in adjusting to university life in my first year as a freshman would have to be trying to juggle all my assignments, all from different courses. And late nights are a much too common thing in university!
>University is a great place to meet people and interact about different ideas, and make decisions and judgment about those ideas.
>During the first year of engineering, one classmate collapsed during a lab and another was hospitalized from a nervous breakdown.
The program was very intense that year, and most of my classmates were really stressed about assignments and exams. I was concerned too, of course, but God helped me not to panic and helped me handle stress better... many students and staff around me noticed something good was going on in my life.
