Wing's Thoughts on Life and Spirituality

about Wing  |  thoughts on spirituality

Who I am:

>To me, just being myself means being able to trust someone. When I'm with people I can trust, I can debate all kinds of questions, joke about life, or try funny accents!

>I began thinking about my life purpose during Senior High and the beginning of university. Everybody needs to answer the questions "Why am I here?".

>One of my life purposes is to experience as many adventures as possible. Another is to get to know my Creator better and better. I'd say my last purpose is to help others share my preceding two goals, if they so desire.

I'm still refining my life purpose. I believe that everybody is valuable, regardless of his or her purpose.

>What I'm most proud of: my pocket memo-book, organized alphabetically :)

>I would love to meet my paternal great grandfather and hear him tell me about our ancestors in China.

>Describe your room: My wife is often there. My room isn't messy except for the piles of paper on my desk.

>My likes: dim sum (Chinese appetizer dishes), ice skating, reading and playing the guitar, practicing kung-fu moves, hockey, badminton, and music (pop music, traditional Chinese instrumental and hymns).

My spiritual journey:

>Respect of other people used to be very important to me. That's why I wanted very much to be a famous engineer, so that I'd have the approval of others, especially my family.

Achieving academic success and the adventure of pursuing interests were what made me happy.

>I didn't know if God even existed, although I thought he should. I thought Jesus was a wise man who probably just got killed and stayed dead like everyone else in history.

>I had just finished reading a book on the resurrection of Jesus called "Knowing the Truth of the Resurrection" by William Craig.

For the first time, I was convinced that Jesus really did rise from the dead, and that the good news of the Bible was for real. I could really befriend God, who loves me and wants to lead my life.

All I had to do was just to accept his forgiveness and trust that Jesus died to take the penalty for my wrong doings and rebelliousness. And then I could ask him to come and be a part of my life, and he would!

>God was there during some hard times, when I almost couldn't believe that God would allow horrible things to happen to me and to those I loved. But slowly God helped me accept my circumstances and to let me see that he always has the best in mind for me. I can trust him at all times, he will be there with me.

>God has helped me to be a better listener. Others appreciate having a listening ear. God is still changing me in the area of keeping my cool. I used to panic and get frustrated during times of intense stress and pressure, but God gives me supernatural control over myself.

>Some students may not think they need the spiritual dimension. But they'll see that there is something beyond the physical needs in life. There's got to be something true, workable, joyful, and spiritual that drives everything you do.

>I believe God engineered us. For us to function the way we were made, and to thrive for the long haul, we need God, our maker.
