Student Profile: The Life of Ral

Personality Snapshot:
Who Am I?

I love how you can joke around about your life. In general, I'm just a lazy goof. If I could be myself all the time people would probably just tell me to shut up because I would do a lot of crazy things like being loud and saying jokes that I would be the only one laughing at.

I would hate to be without the hope that there is a new and better day tomorrow. I would hate to be living in a world without absolute truth.

Dreams Snapshot:

I don't have dreams anymore. I used to dream of spending my future speaking to large crowds and talking about how God has changed my life.  I also used to dream about dunking a basketball from the 3 point line.

I've been a dreamer since I was a kid.  But I've realized that God is the pilot.  I'm not even a co-pilot. I don't know where God's leading me. I have to have faith in His plans for me.

Marriage has been upon my heart because I am graduating soon. I've been more mature now than ever in the past.  But, I am still grappling with what God wants me to do in the future: where to live, where to work, who to marry.

Interests Snapshot:

I'm a work horse and a geek, I spend my waking hours reading textbooks.  But, when I am out of school, I like to play the drums and watch movies.  I also love playing video games like Zelda and old school Nintendo games.

I have a crazy Ikea room. When you look at my room, you'll see three pages of the Ikea catalog. My friend Danelle designed my room. My favorite part is my chair: it's my throne. It's where I kick back and relax after a long day.

I love playing basketball.  I love watching hockey.  I would be bored to death by watching baseball. What a snorefest!

University Snapshot:

I love the atmosphere in university where my thoughts can be challenged and built up.

Professors are great!  At Trinity Western it's great to come to class and have the professors know your name, tell you they were thinking about you, and have them pray for you.  They have so much knowledge and are so willing to give it to you.  I love soaking it all in like a sponge.

The thing that sucks the most about university is deadlines.

Advice

My cousin told me that your grades will depend upon how much you read (he was right).

Have a social network outside of your university network.  Have other friends you can touch base and have fun with.

Have a solid biblical foundation and don't hesitate in asking questions about spirituality.

Know that school is school, work is work, but God is forever.

Spirituality in the Everyday:

There's a song by Chris Tomlin that says 'Not to us but to your name be the glory.' This gives me shivers.

This life is not about me. It can't be about me.
God doesn't want me to be the copilot, but he wants me to get out of the cockpit!  Especially when you are physically and mentally going 100 miles an hour throughout the day you need to stop and consider what is above you.

I love that God is so surprising.
