Matt's Outlook on Life:

Being successful at sports, school and relationships were once really important to me. I thought that by having lots of money and lots of friends, my life would be fulfilling.

I'd be driven to work and succeed in these areas. But I felt guilty whenever I failed.

In order to feel validated, I relied on praise from others.I thought that success in certain areas of life, like school or relationships would bring me happiness, but it didn't.

My life is like the movie The Never-ending Story. There are always ups and downs but I know in the end I will be in a better place than where I am now.

An Engineer's Perspective of University Life

I enjoy facing a problem, devising a solution and conquering it. In high school, I really liked math and science, so engineering seemed like a natural choice for my major.

At university, I discovered I needed to learn how to learn and to manage my time better. I also had to learn to live on my own.

I love the independence, learning about myself, and meeting a lot of new, interesting people.

Choose friends wisely! They have a huge influence on the decisions we make.

A word of advice for Computer Engineering Students: Try to stay on top of new trends and technology. Be sure to have a good foundation in mathematics, especially in calculus. Remember - your classmates have the same fears and anxieties as you!

In addition, the course load is heavy. For example, in first year I had almost 35 hours of classes a week, not including study time and laboratory preparation time!

I like to talk and spend time with my friends. I enjoy playing various sports like soccer, golf and hockey and just fiddling with my guitar.

My type of music: classical, latin, and jazz.

I would consider dying for sugar marshmallow strawberries.
