Marc talks about university and his spiritual discoveries

School Findings | A Hairy Hobby | Seekers Finders

University Life Explored:

> During high school I had always been interested in two different studies: Science, as well as Business. What better way to explore both options than by studying both subjects! I decided to go to the University of Waterloo and study a very unique discipline, Science and Business.

> One of the most important life tips that I can offer, is to surround yourself with people who build you up. I had failed to heed this advice during most of my high school, and university was a great opportunity to start over. My brother attended Waterloo and I tend to follow in his footsteps in most areas. I was looking to get involved with a Christian group on campus and so I decided to attend a weekly meeting that my brother was leading at the time.

> Not only did I find a lot of people who loved God, but a lot of people were going through the same things that I was. University life can be rough but it can also be the most rewarding experience if you get involved and take advantage of opportunities to getting to know the people that you meet.

Weird Quirks

> When people hear about the University of Waterloo, they usually think about “mathies” or “nerds.” I’m here to tell you that all of these rumours are…true. I don’t like to consider myself one of those people, being a science student, so let’s not put all Waterloo students under the same bubble.

> On most days I like to take a brisk skateboard to school just to get my blood flowing. Although I’m not the best trickster, I use skateboarding as a main mode of transportation and it helps me to view God’s creation while perspiring like a Viking.

> One of the weird things that I like to do is have fun with my hair and facial hair growing ability. I have had a mullet three times after growing my hair out, for about a year each time starting in Grade 12. Beginning in university, I started to do such things with my face as only shaving half of my face after growing a beard. I’ve also left just a neckbeard for a couple of days, and most recently grown a weak handlebar mustache that hurt my male pride.

Spirituality

> I was spiritually uninvolved up until age 14, at which point I began to think about God and what this world was all about. I started talking with solid Christian people and viewing the model that we should follow in Jesus Christ. After earnestly seeking the truth in a relativistic society, it all led me to enter into a personal relationship with God.

> What’s the one important thing that each one of us desperately needs? An intimate relationship with our Creator through His Son, Jesus Christ.

> Being at university in an intellectual setting allows students to contemplate deeper issues on a more profound level. I truly believe that if people actually seek after the absolute truth, including praying to the God who loves them so much, they will find their meaning and purpose in life.

> While I have found that although God doesn’t always provide an easy road, I know that by seeking His direction I will find the comfort and peace every person searches for.
