Grace's Thoughts on Spirituality

who I am  |  my spiritual journey

The kind of person that I am:

>When nobody is watching, I am a noise maker. To me, just being myself means being wild.

>I now have many dreams. I dream about moving to China and eating yummy Chinese food every day, writing a book about my life, helping people develop their own dreams, learning how to swim, having a baby, having a successful marriage with my husband Berman.

My husband marrying me left a deep impression on my life. Now I understand what love is and I can therefore appreciate how special God's unconditional love for people is.

> I value relationships the most -- relationship with my husband, friends, and most of all -- my relationship with God.

>Confessing a deep dark secret at the risk of losing a relationship with the person I loved most was the most difficult thing I've ever done.

>My life is like a roller coaster ride because it's scary to think about, exciting to experience, and you never know what to expect next.

>I'd love to meet anybody from my ancestory - to find out what kind of life they lived in China.

>My mom would say my room looks "like a hurricane just went through it." In my own words, it's simply an "organized mess".

>The food I had at the Chinese banquet for my wedding was to die for!

What matters in life:

>Before I came to my faith, what other people thought about me used to be so important to me. I didn't think people valued me much so I didn't value myself either. As a result, I forgot what it was to dream.

>I used to think God was too big and wonderful to care about someone like me. Then, in my early teens, at a summer camp in Seattle, I realized that God could be my friend and that he valued a personal relationship with each person on this planet, including me.

My struggle with my faith was mainly an emotional one. There is all the factual evidence in the world to back up that God is the God of the Bible, but who can accept that He knows and cares about each one of us personally? Accepting that God is personal can be a lofty thing to do.

>Over the years, as I've gotten to know God better personally, I've seen in my life how God has always been there for me, orchestrating everything in my life in just the perfect way.

He's given me excitement in life, and many things to dream about. I am excited because I want to make my life count and I have God to help me do that.

>I think most students don't have much spirituality because they're too busy worrying about things that really aren't that important in life, especially in eternity -- grades, career, money. What IS really important is to know what your purpose is here on earth and know the God who created you.

>It may seem a big step to consider having a personal relationship with God, but consider it! Because there's nothing to lose, but so much to gain. Having a personal relationship with God answers a lot of tough questions in life and gives value to life.
