Have you ever heard of the saying 'you are what you eat'?
Everyone knows that he or she should try and eat healthy, because it is just the right thing to do. However, few people realize exactly how a proper diet can improve our overall well being and life satisfaction.
Food is the raw material for your bones. Vitamin supplements and herbs are great, but eating the wrong foods will overrule the benefits of herbs and vitamins.
In other words, you can't eat unhealthy, hoping that vitamins will pick up the slack. Besides, the body assimilates the most vitamins and minerals from food.
Many people are trying to lose weight through low fat diets. However, this theory of weight loss can be flawed for a number of reasons:
- First, there many foods which claim to be low or no fat that are extremely unhealthy.
If they are full of sugars or chemicals, they will inhibit your body and metabolism from functioning properly.
In other words, you will never achieve a trim, healthy body by eating fat free chocolate brownies.
- Second, those who are on a low fat diet often make up for it by consuming a large amount of carbohydrates, particularly the carbs found in wheat products, yet forgo the important inclusion of vegetables.
The majority of medical herbalists claim that wheat is an inferior grain. Eating large amounts of bread and pasta will build fat, cause extra mucus in your sinuses, and make you tired, while a diet majoring in vegetables and focusing on grains such as rye, barley, oats and rice will help to build muscle and strengthen alertness. Additionally, many people have food sensitivities to wheat and don't know it.
Changing your diet can be one of your biggest steps to a happier, healthier life.
An example in history is the story of a man named Daniel who refused to eat the indulgent foods served at the King's court.
Instead, he and his men ate only healthy foods (they were vegetarians actually). In only ten days it was obvious that their vitality and strength far outweighed the condition of the others at court.
Try following Daniel's example. Give your body a chance at good health.
