Another shooting at a university campus, this one on Valentine's Day, causes students to ask questions and look for answers when there seem to be none.

Video Report on the NIU Shooting (CBCvideo)
It has happened again. Shootings at an American University, Northern Illinois U., in DeKalb. A former student at the school, Stephen Kazmierczak, opened fire on a lecture hall full of students, killing five and wounding 16 others. There was no warning of the attack which ended with the gunman taking his own life.
Some students have voiced feelings of anxiety and fear at the thought of the randomness of the acts of violence. Anyone could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time and fallen victim to such a crime. Others have talked about feelings of anger, despair, dismay, and compassion for the families
of the victims.
What can you do with all of those feelings? An event such as this one makes you think. Others would rather not think too much and just move on. It's not always that easy to "get on with normal life" afterwards. Sometimes it helps to talk with someone. Sometimes it helps to seek out some perspective. Sometimes you just need to be alone for a while to think about stuff. Wherever you are and however you respond right now, we wish to offer a perspective and a help that may be useful to some students.
